How to Read a Cosmetic Label (and What to Avoid)

Reading an ingredient label can feel like decoding a chemistry exam. Here's a friendly cheat-sheet.

Sulphates (SLS/SLES): aggressive foaming agents that can strip and irritate. We never use them.

Parabens: synthetic preservatives linked to sensitivity concerns. Skip them.

Silicones: create a temporary smooth feel but can build up over time.

Artificial fragrance: a catch-all term that can hide dozens of undisclosed chemicals.

What to look for instead: recognisable plant oils, herbal extracts, and natural preservatives. If you can read it and picture it in nature, it's usually a good sign.

Every Arkmantra label is intentionally short and honest, because clean beauty should have nothing to hide.
